Etihad Student Discount: How to Save 10% on Flights!

The Etihad Student Discount program is a great way for students to save an extra 10% on flights when traveling abroad. Verified students will save 10% on their flight, get more luggage space and get an additional deal for a companion who’ll be flying with you.

Etihad Airways has one of the best student discount offers on the market, but there are a few extra steps you must complete to qualify.

Here is everything you need to know to book these special student rates.

Etihad Airways Student Offer

If you are a student and book your flight with Etihad Airways, you’ll get up to a 10% discount on Economy tickets and a 5% discount on Business Class tickets. All flights and fare types, however, are subject to availability at the time of booking.

Each fare is subject to terms and conditions and not all Etihad flights will offer this discount. Make sure you read the terms and conditions carefully before booking.

How to Book an Etihad Airways Student Fare

Before you can book a student fare with Etihad, the following requirements must be met:

1. You must be an international student aged 18-32 
2. You must be studying abroad in a qualifying countries (below)  
   • Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belgium, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Maldives, Netherlands, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, UAE and UK
   • Unfortunately, Canada and the US are currently not included in the list of qualifying countries.
3. Be an Etihad Guest member (sign up here) 
4. Have your international student ID verified before booking

Flight Restrictions

Etihad Airways’ student flight discounts are applicable for travel worldwide, for both one-way and return trips. The only geographical exceptions are for flights to and from Maldives and Seychelles.

The student discount does not apply to Economy Sale, Hand Baggage Only, Economy Choice Plus, or Business Choice Plus fares.

If other offers are available at the time of booking, you will not be able to combine this special offer for students with any of them. If another special offer provides a lower-priced fare for the route and date you want to fly, the student discount and extra baggage will not be applied even if you enter the promo code.

Additional Perks with Etihad Student Fares

Some airlines like Etihad Airways offer you perks to go along with their discounts for students. In addition to the perks below, make sure to join the Etihad Guest program so you earn miles for your flights.

Additional Baggage Allowance

One of the perks of booking a student flight discount with Etihad Airways is the additional baggage space they give you. However, the amount of baggage space varies depending on the tickets you book.

• If you book an Economy ticket, you get an increased luggage allowance of up to 40 kg (equal to one additional piece of checked luggage).
• If you book a Business ticket, you get an increased luggage allowance of up to 50 kg (also equal to one more piece of checked baggage).

This additional baggage perk is only applicable to those traveling to and from the United States or from India to Africa. It does not apply to students traveling to and from Canada.

If the selected fare for your journey already has a checked baggage allowance, you won’t get further additional baggage allowance even when you use the promo code STU10.

The Etihad Carry-On Baggage Rules do not change with this promo code.

Student Companion Discount

If you are flying with friends or family who aren’t students, they can save up to 10% too! (applies for one additional adult).

To qualify, they must be traveling on the same booking as you, and you must present your valid student ID. If you are traveling with more than one person, your other companions must be booked separately using standard fares.

Requirements

Etihad Airways’ student flight discounts are only applicable to full-time students aged 18-32 years. You won’t be asked for anything while booking the flight discount. However, once you check in at the airport on the day of the flight, Etihad Airways will ask you for either one of the following to validate your purchase:

• A valid student ID card,
• International Student Identity Card, or
• A university acceptance letter

If you are unable to produce either when you check in, you will end up forfeiting the ticket and the perks that come along with it. Etihad Airways will issue you a new ticket at the cost of the applicable fare on the day of travel.

Can I Make Changes to a Student Ticket?

If you need to make any changes to your flight, you can do so via https://etihad.com/ or a customer service agent from Etihad Airways’ call centers.

In case of ticket changes (different flights, etc.), your fare will be recalculated based on the best available fare for the route and date selected. Making changes to your ticket may result in the loss of additional student baggage allowance.

Like all other airlines that offer student flight discounts, Etihad Airways’ terms and conditions are subject to change without prior notice. Their student discount policies also change from year to year, so it’s best to double-check before booking.

Terms and Conditions

Here are the terms and conditions of the student discount offer:

• Valid for students aged between 18-32 years old for bookings.
• Valid on one-way and return journeys on Etihad-operated flights booked on etihad.com/studentoffer using the promo code STU10. 
• Travel to/from Maldives or Seychelles is excluded from this offer.
• Students must present valid student identification (ID card or university acceptance letter) at the airport check-in counter on the day of departure. Failure to provide valid student identification if requested may result in the ticket being forfeited and a new ticket at the applicable fare on the day of departure being required for travel. 
• One accompanying adult passenger booked in the same booking using the promo code is also eligible for this offer. Any additional traveling companions must be booked separately using standard fares.
• The offer comprises a fare discount of 10% in Economy and 5% in Business (exclusive of taxes and surcharges) and an increased baggage allowance of up to 40kg in Economy and up to 50kg in Business or one additional piece of checked baggage if traveling to/from the USA or from India to Africa. Additional baggage allowance does not apply to travel to/from Canada. The fare discount and additional baggage allowance will be automatically applied at the time of booking, using the promo code STU10, and cannot be applied/added after the booking has been completed.
• If the selected fare for your journey already includes a checked baggage allowance of 40kg or more in Economy or 50kg or more in Business, no further additional baggage allowance will apply when using the promo code STU10.
