Air France is one of the airlines with a student discount program for students heading to their university, returning home, or just going on a holiday during the summer. If you are a student and foresee yourself traveling over the next few months or even years, you might want to take advantage of the Air France student discount fares.

Air France Student Discount Perks
Free Checked Bags
Having enough luggage space is always a concern when flying from one place to another. If you are able to secure an Air France student discount, luggage space is one less thing to worry about. Their student rate includes up to 2 checked baggage (23 kg/50.7lb maximum)—for free. Plus the Air France Carry on policy allows you to also bring one carry-on bag and a personal item for free!
Flexible Bookings
Travel plans can change even before you know it. One of the perks of getting a student discount on Air France is that it allows you a little bit more flexibility. No matter the reason, you can make changes to your tickets with the student rate—whether changing your trip or postponing it entirely. You can even request a refundable voucher if you no longer wish to travel.
Be sure to check Air France’s flexible booking policy for flight changes, cancellations, refunds, and more, as they may change at any time.
Requirements to Get an Air France Student Fare
Aside from the necessary travel documents (passport and student visa or student residence permit), Air France has other requirements for travelers who want to make use of their student discount.
To be eligible for Air France’s student flight discount, you must be between 18-29 years old. You also need to submit at least one of the following:
- Valid student card
- Proof of enrollment
- Admission letter
You will need to bring these requirements with you when you travel as they may ask for them from you at the check-in counter and boarding gate. Passengers who do not meet the above conditions may have to pay additional fees.
The Air France Youth Pass
Air France has another pricing program called the “Youth Pass.” It’s for passengers between 12 to 24 years of age. Unlike the student discount, you don’t need to submit school-related documents if you want to make use of the Youth Pass. You must also pay the membership fee of €49 per year.
The Air France Youth Pass membership fee gives you up to a 30% discount on tickets based on the standard fare. Ticket rates include taxes but exclude service fees (which are free of charge on airfrance.com).
Youth Pass tickets are flexible, allowing you to refund them if your trip gets canceled. When you buy a ticket through the Youth Pass, it also includes one checked bag.
If you are likely to fly with Air France often, you might consider investing in the Youth Pass program. It’s also important to note that the Youth Pass is only applicable to the following destinations:
- Metropolitan France—the whole domestic network (except for the Caribbean region)
- Corsica (marketed by Air France and operated by Air Corsica)
- Europe (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom)
- And other places (including Algeria, Armenia, Georgia, Morocco, Russia, Tunisia, Turkey, and Ukraine)
Before you get your Youth Pass, be sure to check the destinations where it is applicable so you know whether or not it is something you’d like to subscribe to for a whole year. If not, and you are a student, you may want to check into their student discount rates instead.
