If you are either a current or prospective Inspirato Pass Member, it’s essential to understand the “ins and outs” of the Inspirato Cancellation Policy.
For that matter, you should know the cancellation policy for anything you book when you take a trip from flights to hotels to activities, even if they have nothing to do with Inspirato. You never know when something will come up that will unexpectedly change your plans.
Inspirato Cancellation Policies
The cancellation policies are slightly different for each Inspirato membership (Pass, Club, and Select), so we will touch on each, but the Pass Cancellation Policy is one that can be a little confusing so we’ll spend a little more time on that.
Pass Cancellation Policy
The most important thing to know about the cancellation policy for a Pass reservation is the term “fully reserved”. If you cancel a Pass trip before your reservation is fully reserved, you will lose the pass days ($$) associated with that trip.
As I mentioned in my Inspirato Pass Review, I think the Pass program is a great travel program where you can receive huge value for your travel dollar, but if you don’t understand the Pass cancellation policy, you can potentially lose out on a lot of the value of your membership.
The Pass Cancellation Policy from Inspirato states the following:
When you cancel a Pass Trip for a stay in an Inspirato Residence or hotel or resort partner, you may be eligible to receive a refund in the form of Canceled Days, subject to the Inspirato Pass Cancellation Policies below. Canceled Days are a percentage of the Pass Days you originally used to reserve the trip and can be used toward future Pass Trip reservations
If you cancel a Pass Trip for a stay in an Inspirato Residence or hotel or resort partner that you reserved using only Pass Days (i.e., no Canceled Days), the following policy applies:
Pass Cancellation Example
If the chart above doesn’t fully make sense to you, here’s a simplified example to demonstrate.
Let’s say you book a 5-day trip to Kiawah with your Inspirato Pass on June 1. The trip will cost you 30 Pass Days and it is scheduled for December 1 – 6. Here’s how the cancellation policy will work:
The trip will become “fully reserved” on July 1, which is when your Pass is back “in use” from your booking. Here are the key dates to be aware of:
- June 2 – July 1: If you cancel in this date range you will forfeit the 30 days invested in this trip.
- July 2 – September 30: If you cancel in this date range you will receive a full refund of your Pass days to use toward another trip. With this example, that would be 30 Pass Days
- October 1 – October 30: If you cancel in this date range you will receive an 80% refund of your Pass days to use toward another trip. With this example, that would be 24 Pass Days.
- November 1 – November 30: If you cancel in this date range you will forfeit the 30 days invested in this trip.
Pass Cancellation Policy for Other Bookings
The following are the cancellation policies for other types of bookings such as Cruises, Experiences, and Bonus Trips
If you want more details go to the Inspirato Cancellation Policy Page. Click on the “Pass” tab.
Club Cancellation Policy
The cancellation rules Club are a little different than the Pass since you are paying with cash instead of using Pass days.
Additionally, the rules are tighter if you reserve a property during a peak travel period for that destination. Peak travel periods are clearly listed on Inspirato’s website (In the Club cancellation section) so there is no confusion.
The Club Cancellation Policy from Inspirato states the following:
Under the Standard Inspirato Cancellation Policy, you always receive a refund of the taxes and fees you paid for your reservation. In addition, we will issue a refund equal to a percentage of the vacation subtotal applicable to your trip, in the form of cash or Inspirato Travel Credits, all as indicated in the applicable table. Cash refund options apply only to amounts paid for the reservation by ACH or credit card; amounts paid for the reservation with Inspirato Travel Credits or Travel Perks will be refunded in the form of original payment. Inspirato Travel Credits issued as a cancellation refund can be used to reserve Inspirato vacations up to three years from the issuance date.
Jaunt Trips
Jaunt Now and Jaunt 52 are part of the club program and have the following cancellation rules:
- Jaunt Now trips that are booked thirty (30) or fewer days before the check-in date are non-refundable. If they are booked more than 30 days out, The Standard Inspirato Cancellation Policy applies.
- Jaunt 52 trips are typically booked further out, in which case, The Standard Inspirato Cancellation Policy applies.
If you want more details go to the Inspirato Cancellation Policy Page. Click on the “Club” tab.
Select Cancellation Policy
The following cancellation policies apply to Inspirato Select Trip reservations for the indicated timeframes.
If you want more details go to the Inspirato Cancellation Policy Page. Click on the “Select” tab.
Inspirato Only Experiences Cancellations
Within three business days of booking, cancel for a full refund. After three business days, reservations are non-refundable unless Inspirato is able to rebook the package. If Inspirato is able to rebook, the Inspirato member will receive 90% back in Travel Credits. If applicable, this would be refunded three business days after the package is rebooked.
