How Can I Get a Student Flight Discount on Qatar Airways?

If you are flying with Qatar Airways and want to avail of a student discount, you need to be a member of their Student Club first. Only then can you access the student flight discounts and other benefits.

The good news is this: anyone can join Qatar Airways Student Club, and membership is free!

Once you become a member of the Student Club, you also automatically become a member of the Qatar Airways Privilege Club, which allows you to earn points for your flights.

You have four kinds of membership tiers to choose from:

• Burgundy Membership Tier
• Silver Membership Tier
• Gold Membership Tier
• Platinum Membership Tier

After you join the Student Club, you will be issued a membership card in digital format. Privilege Club will not issue physical cards.

Qatar Student Promo Codes

When you have completed your registration with Qatar Airways Student Club, you will receive a confirmation email sent to your registered email address. This email will also contain your unique promo code.

The fare discount is only valid for bookings made with the unique promo code, so be sure you are using it while booking your ticket.

The discount applies only to the base fare—it does not apply to taxes and other surcharges. Seats are limited and subject to availability. Be sure to refer to the fare rules while booking for other applicable terms and conditions.

How much can you save with Qatar Student Discounts?

Qatar Airways student flight discount applies to all flights booked on qatarairways.com, including one-way journeys and return trips.

Student Club members will get the following types of student flight discounts:

1. The fare discount for the first ticket will be 10% off the published ticket price.
2. The fare discount for the second ticket will be 15% off the published ticket price.
3. The fare discount for the third ticket will be 20% off the published ticket price.
4. The fare discount for the fourth ticket will be 20% off the published ticket price.

You can only benefit from the fare discount for the second ticket only upon completion of the first sector of the first booking. After the first sector has been flown, you will receive a confirmation email containing a unique promo code to access the fare discount for the second ticket.

Likewise, you can only benefit from the fare discount for the third ticket upon completion of the first sector of the second booking. After the first sector of the second flight has been flown, you will receive a confirmation email containing a unique promo code to access the fare discount for the third ticket.

The same rules apply to your fourth ticket. You will only get the unique code upon completion of the first sector of the third booking. Only then will you receive the confirmation email containing a unique promo code to access the fare discount for the fourth ticket.

Qatar Student Flight Discount Requirements

If you want to become a member of Qatar Airways Student Club to access student flight discounts, you must meet the following conditions:

• You must be a student studying for an academic degree in a college or university.
• You have to be between the ages of 18 and 30.
• You need to have one or all of the following:
  • A valid and current student identification card issued by an official student union or an educational institute
  • A valid student visa
  • An official acceptance letter issued by an educational institute in English

You also need to provide your expected graduation date when you enroll in the Student Club. Should the graduation date change, it is your responsibility, as the student, to update the date.

Make sure your details on the registration form (such as your name) are precisely the same as stated on the passport you will use for traveling.

Qatar Airways will request the documents listed above to confirm the eligibility of passengers upon check-in.

If you are unable to provide the necessary documents, you will be ineligible to take the flight under the student flight discount. Qatar Airways has the right to charge the applicable fare, subject to availability or the lowest available fare. They will also charge you for the additional baggage allowance as per standard fees.

The maximum duration for membership in the Student Club is seven (7) years from the date you enroll in the Student Club.

What Are the Benefits of Getting a Student Flight Discount on Qatar Airways?

Special Fares on Flights

Through the Student Club, you’ll get access to special discounts that are exclusively for students, allowing you to save more with every booking. With a unique promo code sent to you by Qatar Airways, you’ll be able to access fare discounts and book your student flight discount. With a Student Club membership, you’ll have access to the following deals:

• 10% off discount for the first booking
• 15% off discount for the second booking (valid for one year from the first date of travel from the first booking)
• 20% off discount for the third booking (valid for one year from the first date of travel from the first booking)
• 20% off discount for the fourth booking (valid for six months from the first date of travel from the previous booking)

Additional Baggage Allowance

Do you ever worry about not getting enough luggage space when you travel? Through the Qatar Airways Student Club, one of the benefits you’ll get is an additional baggage allowance whenever you travel.

If you are a Burgundy Student Club member, you’ll get an additional 10 kilograms (or one more piece of baggage) on flights depending on your route. That way, you won’t have to worry about not getting to bring everything you need, whether you’re on your way to school or headed home for the holidays. To avail of the extra baggage allowance, you’ll need to present your digital Student Club card when you check in.

For other Qatar Airways Student Club members who have Silver, Gold, or Platinum Membership Tiers, you will continue to enjoy your respective Tier benefits for baggage allowance following the Privilege Club Terms and Conditions.

Date Change Flexibility

Travel plans can change a lot, and when that happens, you want all the flexibility you can get with your flights.

When you are a member of Qatar Airways Student Club, you’ll get to have some flexible booking options, including one complimentary date change. You’ll get a one-time waiver in respect of penalty and service fees that they usually charge passengers who change dates. 

However, if there is a difference in amount between the original date booked and the new chosen date, you will have to pay for them. For any additional date changes, standard date change fees will apply.

Privilege Club Tier Upgrade Upon Graduation

The Privilege Club is Qatar Airways’ reward club. As a member of the Privilege Club, you’ll get to earn mileage and points for your flights. You‘ll get priority for stand-by flights, among many other perks.

When you graduate, your Student Club membership will end, but you will get to continue as a Main Member of the Privilege Club and benefit from your membership with the Privilege Club. However, you may wish to upgrade to the next tier—a gift from Qatar Airways to all who have a Student Club membership.

If you don’t have status with the airline, you’ll get free Silver Elite Status when you graduate. If you are already a Platinum member, your status will extend for another year.

The following terms and conditions apply:

• You need to submit supporting documents to Qatar Airways to show proof of your graduation and that you met the minimum flight criteria.
• You need to have flown at least one (1) round-trip journey or two (2) one-way journeys per anniversary year from the date you enrolled in the Student Club. These journeys cannot be through the use of redemption tickets.
• You need to provide the proof of graduation documents within a maximum of six (6) months after your graduation date.

If you are able to submit all the necessary documents, you can be eligible for an upgrade to the next tier in Privilege Club.

Complimentary Super Wi-Fi

If you need to catch up on school work or emails during your flight, some selected flights may have Super Wi-Fi that you can use. If the flight you booked is a Super Wi-Fi-enabled aircraft, you will receive the code via email 48 hours after you book.

With the high-speed Super Wi-Fi, you can stay connected on board and keep working even during your flight.

Travel Companions of Qatar Student Club Members

When you get a student flight discount from Qatar Airways by becoming a member of their Student Club, it’s not just you benefitting from the deal. You can also get special deals for your companions through the Companion Pass.

Each promo code that Qatar Airways sends you is valid for a single booking of up to four (4) trinkets which can comprise the student and up to three (3) accompanying passengers. The following terms and conditions apply:

• The three companions must be registered in the Student Club Member’s profile.
• The companions must be 18 years old and above.
• If the nominated companions are not yet a member of the Privilege Club, they must verify their account before accepting the student’s invitation to be a companion.
• Students can also nominate their existing Privilege Club family members as companions. If this is the case, the nominated person does not need to re-register and can be added as a student companion without further process.
• If the nominated person is already a Privilege Club member but not a family member of the student, the nominated person does not need to register. They will receive an invitation containing an acceptance link for verification.
• All companions must give consent via the link provided by the Student Club member to be added to the student’s profile as companions.
• Once added to the student’s profile, any changes to the companions will be possible only after six (6) months from the first date of registration of the Companion Passes.
• The student and their companions must travel together on the entire journey booked. The original booking cannot be split.
• The extra baggage allowance valid on Qatar Airways-operated flights applies to the student only.
• The companions are eligible for the fare discount and flexibility of one complimentary date change only.
