There is no question that Hyatt offers the best travel benefit of all hotel chains for their employees. Employees get free nights for themselves and an endless amount of discounted rooms for their family and friends. It’s just one example of how Hyatt is committed to their employees via the Hyatt RiseHY program.
What stands out to me is that these special rates aren’t just for Hyatt’s lower-end properties like Hyatt Place and Hyatt House. You can use them at their most exclusive properties, including Park Hyatt, Alila, and Miraval.
By comparison, Hilton has the “Team Member Travel Program” for their employees, Marriott has the “Explore Rate”, and IHG has a Friends and Family rate that they make available to anyone. These are all great programs, but none are quite as good as what Hyatt has to offer.
Here is everything you need to know about Hyatt’s Employee Discount Rate & their Friends and Family Rate.
Hyatt Employee Discount Rates
Hyatt employees have a couple of ways to save when staying at Hyatt properties:
1. Complimentary Nights
Hyatt employees are eligible for up to 12 free room nights per year at any Hyatt property worldwide, including their high-end, luxury properties like the Park Hyatt St Kitts and Alila Marea Beach Resort.
2. Discounted Employee Rates
Additionally, Hyatt employees receive an unlimited number of rooms at a discounted employee rate once they pass the 12 free night allotment.
Hyatt Friends and Family Rates
On top of the 12 free nights employees receive annually, they are also able to extend the discounts to their friends and family. These rates are tightly controlled with a special code that must come from the employee, but if you are eligible you can save anywhere from 30-50% off your hotel rates.
How to Book a Hyatt Friends & Family Rate
The process for booking a Hyatt Friend and Family rate is similar to booking a Hyatt Corporate Rate. The only difference is that you need to enter that rate code in the “Special Offer Code” box, instead of the “Corporate Code” box.
The Hyatt friends and family code will have to be provided to you by the employee and is currently a well-kept secret that is not publicly available on the internet.
This is in contrast to the IHG Friends rate which is publicly available to everyone.
Do Elite Benefits apply to Hyatt Friends & Family Rates?
As a general rule, you will not receive elite benefits with these rates. They are considered special rates that are not eligible for points or other benefits in the World of Hyatt program, but the discount is big enough that you won’t miss the points and benefits.
Hyatt Employee Discounts on Food & Beverage
Employees also get a 50 percent discount on any food and beverage purchases made at a restaurant at any of Hyatt’s global properties.
Other Perks of being a Hyatt Employee
In addition to the great travel benefits, here are some other benefits Hyatt employees receive:
- Free On-Site Dry Cleaning: Hyatt colleagues are provided with access to free on-site dry cleaning for uniforms and work suits so they do not have to worry about this during their time away from work.
- Healthy Cost-Effective Meals: Hyatt provides healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner options at our colleague dining rooms to accommodate all shifts. These meals are offered for little or no cost. Our corporate culinary team created healthy menus for colleague dining rooms using the same principles applied to our hotel restaurant menus, focusing on healthy people, a healthy planet, and communities.
- Rest and Relaxation Lounges: To promote a relaxing atmosphere to our colleague’s in-between shifts and during breaks, Hyatt provides rest and relaxation lounges where colleagues have access to computers, TVs, and video games, as well as comfortable, lobby-like lounge furniture and libraries.
- Caring Fund: Many of our hotels offer the Hyatt Caring Fund which provides financial resources to colleagues in need due to unforeseen emergency circumstances. The benefit is funded 100% by hotel colleagues
- Diversity Business Resource Groups: A key part of Hyatt’s diversity & inclusion efforts has been the establishment of affinity groups or Diversity Business Resource Groups (DRBG). These DRBGs can be formal or informal gatherings of colleagues who share a common cultural heritage, race, gender, age, or interest. Benefits include basic business networking, mentoring each other and others in their communities, and developing professionally.
