Are you visiting friends and family, planning a summer vacation, or taking advantage of a school break? Travel is an essential aspect of student life, just as much as attending lectures, completing assignments, and studying late into the night.

With Air Canada’s Student Flight Pass, you can take advantage of a prepaid package of one-way flight credits that fits your needs, featuring locked-in pricing, flexible booking options, and no blackout dates.

What is the Air Canada Student Flight Pass?

Air Canada’s Flight Passes are prepaid packages of electronic one-way flight credits used for travel within a selected geographic zone during a specific period. A Flight consists of a fixed or unlimited number of flight credits, which you can easily manage online.

One flight credit equals one (1) one-way trip per person, including connecting flights.

With an Air Canada Flight Pass, you get the following:

  • Locked-in prices
  • Flexibility
  • Rewards
  • Convenience
Air Canada Student flight Pass

The Air Canada Student Flight Pass is one of the Flight Passes Air Canada offers to students. You can opt for four or six one-way flight credits in Economy Standard or Flex fare.

When you book a Student Flight Pass, the prices reflected on the website are in Canadian dollars and include taxes, fees, charges, and surcharges. Observe the final pricing, as it may differ and will be based on the province of residence in the buyer’s Aeroplan profile.

Flights and routes may be seasonal and are subject to change without prior notice. Flights and routes may also operate on a limited frequency and are subject to government approval.

Student Pass Validity Period

The Student Flight Pass is valid for 12 or 15 months following the purchase date. You can book your first ticket 24 hours after buying your Air Canada Student Flight Pass. You must book and complete your travel within the validity period. All unused flight credits, remaining beyond the Flight Pass expiration date, will be forfeited. No extensions will be permitted, and it will expire at 11:59 GMT on the one-year anniversary of its purchase date.

Student Flight Pass Extension

If you need to extend your pass, you can do so for up to three months for a fee in accordance with the applicable fare rules. You must, however, purchase this extension one month before your pass expiration date. The extension fee is subject to change without prior notice and will be assessed at the time of the Flight Pass extension application.

A Flight Pass extension can be processed one time per pass and must be completed before it expires. After the Flight Pass expiration date or extended expiration date, all unused flight credits will be forfeited. No refund, in whole or in part, will be issued for any Flight Pass.

Flying During Peak Season

You can even use your Student Flight Pass during peak periods (occurring between December 15 and January 8, though dates may vary).

Note, however, that a peak surcharge applies when you select a travel date within the Peak Period. You will be notified that a Fare Premium will be charged at the time of booking confirmation. The Fare Premium is non-refundable and subject to change at any time. See below for the applicable amounts per Flight Pass Zone (in Canadian dollars).

Air Canada Student Flight Pass Requirements

Student Flight Passes are non-refundable, and only the pass owner can use them.

You Must Be a Full-Time Student

You can buy the Student Flight Pass if you are a full-time student attending a registered educational institution and holding a valid student identification card and number. You will need this valid student identification card number when you purchase, and it must remain valid for the duration of the travel period.

You must also carry your student identification card with you when you travel. Air Canada staff may request it from you at any time during flight check-in or boarding. You may be denied boarding if you fail to present a valid full-time student picture ID Card.

You Must Be a Canadian Resident

Student Flight Passes are only available for Canadian residents. You must have a valid address in Canada.

You Must Be an Aeroplan Member

If you don’t have an Aeroplan membership yet, you can readily sign up for one, as it is free. Parents can also buy the Student Flight Pass for their kids using their Aeroplan membership. The Aeroplan membership used to purchase the Student Flight Pass must be valid at the time of purchase and during the validity period of the Flight Pass.

For new enrollments, the Aeroplan membership activation may take up to 72 hours, so be sure to apply ahead of time if you are flying any time soon.

Air Canada reserves the right, at any time, to verify the status of the purchasing student, including requiring additional information that does not meet the Flight Pass terms and conditions. They also have the right to cancel the Flight Pass should they determine that the eligibility criteria have not been met or are no longer valid.
