Who Conducts the Student Verification?
Singapore Airlines has partnered with a third-party service, SheerID, to verify that you are a student. All you have to do is provide the documents it asks from you.
What Countries does the Student Verification Service Support?
If you are enrolled in an educational institution located in any of the countries listed below, you should be able to verify yourself:
- Australia
- Canada
- Denmark
- France
- Germany
- Hong Kong
- India
- Indonesia
- Ireland
- Italy
- Japan
- Malaysia
- Netherlands
- New Zealand
- Philippines
- Russia
- Singapore
- South Africa
- South Korea
- Spain
- Sweden
- Switzerland

If the country of your educational institution is not listed above, you will not be able to verify yourself as a student.
What Proof of Enrollment Do I Need to Submit for Student Verification with Singapore Airlines?
You can provide up to three school-issued documents that clearly show the following details:
- Your first name
- Your last name
- The name of your educational institution
- A date that shows you are enrolled for the current term or has an issue date that is no older than three months
Some examples of acceptable documents include the following:
- Student ID card
- Offer letter
- Enrollment letter
- Tuition receipt
- Transcript
Make sure you redact any sensitive information before uploading them.
If you are having trouble uploading your documents, make sure that the total file size of all your documents is less than 10 MB and that you are only attaching a maximum of three documents.
How Will I Be Notified of My Student Verification Status?
Once your student status is successfully verified, you will receive an email notification. You may also receive notification emails requesting you to upload supporting documents for further verification. It may take up to 48 hours to receive this email notification. During this time, refrain from re-verifying yourself, as it may result in verification errors.
When Will I Hear Back with the Results of my Student Verification Request?
Documents are viewed in the order received. After you upload your supporting documents, expect an email within 48 hours with additional details regarding your verification request.
Why Did My Singapore Airlines Student Verification Fail?
If your Singapore Airlines student verification failed, it could be because the document you submitted does not meet their requirements. Make sure that your document was issued less than three months ago and clearly states your first name, last name, and the name of your educational institution. Double-check to ensure it matches what you’ve entered in the student verification form.
If the uploaded document does meet the requirements, but you are still unable to get verified, contact SheerID Help Center.
What if My School is Not on the List?
To ensure that you are not missing your school from the list, type out the full name of your school. If that still doesn’t work, then, according to Singapore Airlines, you are not eligible for student verification on Singapore Airlines at this time.
You may submit a request through the school request form of SheerID.
Online verification is only available for tertiary institutions, i.e. post-secondary colleges and universities. Non-tertiary institutions such as secondary schools and boarding schools will not be verifiable through Singapore Airlines’ online portal.
The good news is you can still purchase student fares via your local Singapore Airlines office as long as you have the necessary documentary proof of your student status.

One of the perks of getting a student flight discount from Singapore Airlines means more baggage allowance.

- For all other destinations, you get a 40 kg baggage allowance.

Complimentary Booking Change
If your travel plans change or you’ve decided that you want to make some changes to your trip, you get a fee waiver on your first booking change. This complimentary change applies to all—regardless of your cabin class or fare type. You can also change anything in your booking, including the date of your flight, your destination, or cabin class.
Please note that this only covers the waiver of the change fee penalty. You will have to pay for any fare difference resulting from this change.
While you will be able to manage your student booking online, all changes must be done by contacting your local Singapore Airlines office.
