Iberia’s rules are clear and specific: you get one cabin bag plus one personal accessory, with published dimensions and weights. The main caveat is that there are a few route-based exceptions (notably to/from the U.S.) that can reduce the number of carry-on pieces permitted.

Recommended Carry-On Bag for Iberia
Iberia’s carry-on size limit (56 × 40 × 25 cm) is one of the most common “European legacy carrier” templates. The Travelpro Maxlite 5 International Expandable Carry-On Spinner (19″) is designed for international sizing and is a sensible option if you want one carry-on that works across a lot of Europe-based itineraries.
Manufacturer dimensions:
- Overall dimensions: 21.75″ H × 15.75″ W × 7.75″ D
- Case dimensions: 19″ H × 15″ W × 7.75″ D
Why it works well for Iberia: Iberia’s limit is slightly more generous than the 55 × 40 template, which gives you a bit of breathing room—as long as you keep the bag unexpanded and avoid overpacking.
Iberia Airlines Carry-On Liquid Policy
The rules for carry-on liquids are set by the TSA in the US and the EASA and European Commission in Europe. Iberia doesn’t have its own specific Liquids Policy, they just enforce the rules and policies of the Authorities.
- Containers: up to 100 ml
- Bag: one clear plastic bag with a closure/zip, up to 1 liter
For the simplest checklist, use my TSA liquids rule guide as the packing baseline.
Iberia Airlines Pet Policy
Iberia will allow dogs, cats, fish, turtles, and birds (except birds of prey) in the cabin if they don’t weigh more than 8 kg. (including their cage or pet pack). The pet must remain in its kennel (container) for the entire flight duration.
Here is the Iberia Pet policy if you want to double-check.
Prohibited Items and Dangerous Goods
There are certain items that are considered dangerous and classified as hazardous materials. Dangerous goods are prohibited from both your carry-on and checked bags on all flights. These rules are not specific to any airline and are mandated by the Federal Aviation Administration.
A complete list can be found on the FAA website and the TSA website.
One more way to find them is with the Iberia Airlines summary of restricted items.
Iberia Airlines Carry-On Size and Fees
Iberia Airlines does not charge a fee for carry-on baggage that meets their size requirements. If your bag is too large and does not meet Iberia Airlines’s carry-on restrictions, you may be charged a fee to gate check it.
