I joined Inspirato in January 2022, renewed in 2023 and 2024, and canceled in 2025. I’m glad I tried it—there were trips and properties my family still talks about—but over time, I found the program worked best for a very specific type of traveler, and I wasn’t consistently in that sweet spot.

If you’re considering Inspirato today, the biggest thing you need isn’t hype. You need clarity: what it’s like to use in the real world, where the friction points are, and how to know whether you’ll actually get value. This review will help you with that.

What is Inspirato, exactly?

Inspirato is a luxury travel membership company with a curated portfolio of vacation homes and hotel stays, backed by a member services team (“Care”) that helps with planning and in-destination support.

The Inspirato portfolio of properties includes luxury vacation homes, accommodations at five-star hotels and resorts, and custom travel experiences.

In addition to providing access to these properties, Inspirato’s subscription model includes five-star personalized service, including pre-trip planning, onsite concierge, and daily housekeeping with every trip. All of these are included in the cost of your monthly subscription with no hidden fees.

Inspirato generally sells access in two ways:

  • Inspirato Club: You pay membership fees and then pay nightly rates for stays (often at member rates).
  • Inspirato Pass: A “travel as often as you like” style membership that Inspirato announced as a simplified annual model with published rules (and a large annual fee).

My experience is primarily with Pass (legacy model), but I’ll also explain Club because it’s part of the decision.

Inspirato Destinations & Real Estate

The Inspirato portfolio is broad, but it isn’t evenly “global.” In my experience, Inspirato felt strongest in popular North American leisure destinations (mountains, beach, desert), plus select international markets—while some regions had thinner choice or less practical availability.

Here’s the practical takeaway: Inspirato works best when you’re comfortable picking from a handful of strong options in a destination, instead of chasing one specific home on one specific week.

If you want the program to behave like “I name the house, I name the dates, I get it,” you’re likely to be disappointed.

Inspirato Homes and Residences

Inspirato’s best product (in my opinion) is its residences: full homes and high-end villas where the “luxury” isn’t just the decor—it’s the consistency, the service layer, and the experience of arriving to something that generally matches the photos and expectations.

Here are some reviews of the luxury homes I have stayed in as an Inspirato Pass Member:

  • Turks and Caicos – Villa Eos
  • Kiawah Island – Terrapin
  • The Hamptons – Boathouses at Canoe Place

Each of these homes exceeded my expectations in terms of both quality and design. I would not hesitate to stay at each of them again.

How to think about “value” with Inspirato homes

If you’re trying to decide whether Inspirato is worth it, focus less on the headline membership cost and more on whether you’ll realistically book enough peak-season, high-demand stays where the membership model (or member rates) beats what you’d otherwise pay for comparable homes.

In other words: the program can be a great deal, but it’s not automatically a great deal for every travel pattern.

Inspirato Hotels & Resorts

In addition to luxury homes, Inspirato offers access to an extensive list of exclusive 5-star hotels and resorts. These hotels can be booked via your Inspirato Pass membership or a paid Virtuoso booking.

Inspirato Collection Hotels & Resorts

Inspirato isn’t only homes. There are also hotel and resort options that can make sense when you want a shorter trip, a city stay, or a “we just want to be taken care of” weekend.

For me, hotels were a supplement—not the main reason to join. The value equation felt strongest when I used Inspirato for residences where I’d otherwise be paying top-of-market rates for a similar home.

Properties in the “Inspirato Collection Hotels” include amazing properties with five-star brands such as Rosewood, One & Only, Park Hyatt, Ritz Carlton, Montage, Como, and St. Regis and a collection of independent and boutique hotels.

The hotels offer both traditional hotel rooms and 2-4 bedroom residences. I have stayed at both with my Pass membership. I initially stayed at homes and villas, but then had to move to hotel and resort properties because we rescued a small dog, and they are not allowed in Inspirato homes. Here are some reviews of the resort properties I have stayed at with my Pass members:

  • Montage Palmetto Bluff: 2-bedroom Guest House
  • Conrad Fort Lauderdale: 2-bedroom Condo

Inspirato Property Search Tool

Another great feature of the Inspirato program is the search tool and the fact that you don’t need to be a member to access the tool and see what type of properties are available to you.

When using the search tool, just enter your desired geography and dates. The tool will then deliver a list of locations available at that time. You can then use the filter to refine location types such as beach, mountain, or metropolitan locations.

If you’re evaluating Inspirato, don’t just look at “what exists.” Spend time thinking about “what’s likely to be available when I actually want to travel,” because availability is where the decision usually gets made.

Inspirato Pass Search tool

You can also add another filter if you only want to spend a certain number of Pass Days on a given trip or want a home with a minimum number of rooms.

If you want to get the best value for your Pass days, be flexible with your search. The more open you are to different locations and dates, the more value you will get from your Pass.

Inspirato Membership Options

Here’s a summary of the three membership options available through Inspirato:

1. Inspirato Club Membership

The Club membership is Inspirato’s base membership.

Inspirato Club is the model most people expect: you pay a membership fee to unlock access, service, and member rates—then you pay nightly rates for the trips you book.

If you prefer paying per stay, or you want the flexibility to travel less in a given year without feeling like you “wasted” an all-in membership, Club is often the cleaner fit.

To learn more about the Club program, read our article on Inspirato Club vs. Pass.

2. Inspirato Pass Membership

This is where the internet gets confusing, because “Pass” has not always worked the same way.

Inspirato Pass (current published model)

In August 2025, Inspirato announced a Pass membership publicly described as $40,000 per year, marketed as “unlimited travel” with rules such as:

  • No nightly rates, taxes, or fees for included stays (you still cover flights/transportation and any incidentals charged during the trip)
  • The ability to hold two trips at a time
  • Stays generally framed as 2–7 nights per reservation

If you’re shopping Pass today, you should evaluate it on this current rule set—not on the older “Pass Days” concept below.

Legacy Pass (my membership: 2022–2025)

The Pass I used was a monthly model that relied on “Pass Days.” You paid monthly, received a set number of days, and then “spent” those days as you traveled.

This legacy model is what shaped most of my personal experience—good and bad.

Legacy Pass Days (how it worked during my membership)

Under the legacy Pass, “Pass Days” were essentially the currency of the membership. You paid a monthly fee and received a certain number of days per month. When you traveled, your trip “used” those days.

This made the basics easy to understand—days in, days out—but it also created a real limitation: once your days were committed to a trip, it could feel like your flexibility disappeared until that travel was completed.

That constraint was one of the biggest practical frustrations for me over time.

How Much Does Inspirato Cost?

Inspirato pricing depends on which membership you choose—and (for Pass), which version you’re reading about.

Inspirato Pass (current published positioning)

Inspirato announced Pass publicly as $40,000 per year at the time of its 2025 announcement. Verify current pricing and rules before joining, because programs like this can evolve.

Inspirato Club (published overview pricing)

Inspirato’s Club overview has been marketed with a $15,000 initiation fee that includes first-year dues, with renewal dues shown separately. The renewal number may vary based on the offer presented, so confirm what you’re being offered.

Legacy Pass (what I paid, 2022–2025)

During my membership, Pass was structured as a monthly program with “Pass Days.” I’m including the legacy model here because it is central to my personal experience, but it should not be treated as today’s pricing or rules.

Inspirato Experiences

Inspirato also offers curated experiences beyond homes—trips that bundle lodging with a structured itinerary. I used this side of the program occasionally and found it can be a good fit when you want the trip to feel “done for you,” not like a DIY planning project.

The tradeoff is that these trips tend to be more date-specific and availability-sensitive than booking a residence. If your schedule is flexible, it can be a meaningful bonus. If your dates are fixed, it may not move the needle.

We booked a 7-day Peru / Machu Picchu tour, and it was fantastic. The hotels were all first class, and we had our own private guide for the whole trip!

Other Benefits of Inspirato Pass Membership

Jaunt is Inspirato’s members-only set of discounted trips. It’s best thought of as “special inventory at better pricing,” and it tends to reward members who can move quickly.

In practice, Jaunt can be one of the most compelling parts of membership if you:

  • have flexible dates, and
  • are comfortable booking quickly when something good shows up.

Customer service and the “Care” team (one of the real strengths)

My experience with the customer service teams at Inspirato has been great. This includes everyone from the initial salesperson I bought my subscription through to the Midwest Care team I’m assigned to and work with regularly.

I’m based in Michigan, so I have been assigned to the “Pass Great Lakes Team”. My understanding is that the teams are divided up by region and further segmented by “Pass Members” and “Club Members”.

Each member has a dedicated support team, with their own direct phone line, email address, and after-hours line. The booking tool Inspirato offers is very intuitive, so you can often book trips without contacting your team, but if for some reason you do need them, they are easy to get in touch with for help.

In addition to your dedicated Inspirato Care Team, they also have Destination Planners that help you craft each trip itinerary. These planners are local to the destination and know all the insider tips and top recommendations.

Your Destination Planner will send you a list of recommendations for activities and dining 1-2 months before your trip. Once you decide what to do, they’ll make your dinner reservations, arrange excursions, provide transportation, buy groceries, and more.

The Pros & Cons of Inspirato Pass

Here is my view on the pros and cons of the Inspirato Pass program:

Pros:

  • Access to amazing five-star homes and resorts (with homes that are only available to members)
  • Great service and pre-trip planning assistance via the Inspirato Care Team and local Destination Planners
  • Housekeeping is included in the monthly subscription fee at no additional charge
  • There is an opportunity for significant outsized value if you manage the subscription properly
  • The monthly subscription model allows you to spread your costs out evenly over the year
  • Great value can be found with luxury home rentals (this includes resort residences)
  • With homes, you can bring along friends and family members at no additional charge
  • Pass membership can be canceled at any time, with 30 days’ notice

Cons:

  • Cancellation policy (with individual stays, not with the membership itself)
  • Short-term booking can be challenging.
  • Designed for those with flexible travel schedules that are open to a variety of destinations. If you cannot be flexible, this is not a great option for you.
  • Availability is the entire game. If your dates are fixed and your destination list is narrow, frustration is likely.
  • You need to be comfortable choosing from what’s available—not only what you hoped would be available.
  • Luxury hotels and experiences do not offer great value for your Pass days
  • Pets are not allowed at Inspirato homes.

A note on “how many trips you can hold”

One of my frustrations under the legacy Pass was how constrained things could feel once days were committed to a trip. Inspirato’s current Pass has different published rules (including holding two trips at a time), so if you’re evaluating Pass today, focus on today’s rules—not the legacy mechanics I lived through.

Conclusion: Is Inspirato Pass Worth it?

You could argue that Inspirato is suitable for anyone who wants a luxury travel experience bundled into a monthly subscription, and that is absolutely true. But I look at it a little differently.

I would rather know what type of traveler can get the most value from an Inspirato subscription. When you look at it this way, it primarily appeals to the traveler that wants 5-star luxury vacations but also has the ability to be very flexible.

To get the most value out of your Inspirato subscription, you must be flexible regarding where and when you go.

For example, if you are the type of traveler that wants to go to a warm/beach location in the winter, with flexibility on the dates, and are open to any island in the Caribbean as well as Latin American locations (Mexico, Costa Rica, etc.), then this could be an amazing program for you. My Care team calls this “casting a wide net” to get the most options and value from your subscription.

However, a traveler who is tied to their children’s school vacation schedules and only has a couple of specific destinations in mind will not be able to get “outsized value” from an Inspirato membership, although they will still be able to access amazing properties at a good value.

When I was a member, my kids were both in college. I work most of the time remotely and have the freedom to go just about anywhere. I can even go somewhere without taking a vacation and work remotely in a sunny, warm location to escape the dreary Michigan winters.

Ultimately, getting a small dog was the killer for Inspirato and us. We couldn’t bring him to homes, and I didn’t want to use the membership just for hotels that allow pets. I’m not sure I would have renewed in 2025 if I didn’t have a dog, but since we did, our membership was over. It was great while it lasted!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Inspirato Pass really $40,000 per year?

Inspirato announced Pass publicly in August 2025 at $40,000 time. Confirm current pricing and rules before joining. When I was a member, it was $2500 per month.

Is it hard to get the dates you want?

It can be. Inspirato can be fantastic when you’re flexible, but if you need a single destination for a specific week, availability can be the limiting factor.

What’s the fastest way to get value from membership?

Travel enough (and in the right types of weeks) so the membership cost doesn’t dominate the math, and stay flexible enough to book what’s available when it’s genuinely a great deal.

The reviewer is listing inspirato as a luxury travel booking.
Cons state that if you do not plan early enough ( which in inspirato case is at least a year ahead) you will not find any bookings especially on holiday season.
I was an inspirato member for one year then they sold me an option for 3 year .
The 1st time I used once the 3 year year was never used NOT able to book ONE single trip . Always NOT available. I believe I should not be called luxury .
Luxury travelers don’t have time to plan a year ahead . And if they do their plans are likely to change. So this whole business model does not fit luxury travelers.
