What Kind of Student Flight Discount Does Thai Airways International Have?
Thai Airways offers student flight discounts to students flying abroad. This special offer applies to students flying to 30 destinations (cities) around the world, such as England, Switzerland, France, Australia, Japan, India, and Singapore.
Student Fare Tickets are available in Business and Economy class for student card holders, and the discount is applicable on any TG flight operated by Thai Airways. Ticket validity is for one year, meaning you can book ahead of time.
Who Can Avail of Thai Airways’ Student Flight Discount?
Thai Airways’ student flight discount is only applicable to Royal Orchid Plus Members. You also have to be flying out of Thailand to specific destinations (see the list below).
How to Book a Thai Airways Student Flight Discount
You can book a Thai Airways student flight discount via their page. You can choose between two options: a return ticket or just a one-way trip.
There are limited seats per flight, and the fares you see on the page are inclusive of all taxes. Thai Airways will also show you the breakdown during the booking process. Taxes and surcharges are subject to currency exchange. Be sure to read the ticket terms and conditions at the time of booking as they are subject to change without prior notice.
Requirements for the Thai Airways Student Flight Discount
If you are traveling to study abroad and want to get a student flight discount with Thai Airways must make sure you meet the following requirements:
- You must not be over 25 years old on the first flight departure date.
- You must have a valid university or student identification card. You will present these at the check-in counter.
If you do not meet the above requirements, Thai Airways may end up denying you boarding. You may also end up getting charged the fare difference between the amount you paid under your student flight discount and the cost of regular tickets at the time of the flight.
What Are the Perks of Getting a Student Flight Discount on Thai Airways?
Getting a student flight discount on Thai Airways has its perks.
Flight/Date Change
If you need to make some changes to your flight, such as moving your trip to another date, you can do so without paying a penalty fee. You may, however, have to pay for the fare and taxes, although this is subject to currency fluctuation. All reservation changes must be done at least 72 hours before departure.
Name Correction
Have you ever booked a ticket only to realize several days later that you keyed in the wrong name while purchasing your flight? Such a scenario can be a nightmare for travelers, especially as some airlines won’t allow you to make any corrections to your name without paying a fee.
With Thai Airways, you can correct a wrong name without paying a fee, provided that it is the same person flying. You cannot, however, change the name of the passenger completely.
Upgrade to Higher Class
If you want to upgrade to a higher-class seat, you can do so under your student flight discount. There are no other additional fees other than the difference in fare and taxes, which you will have to pay.
Baggage Allowance
If packing is a bit of a problem for you, there’s no need to worry when you book a student flight discount with Thai Airways. Student fare tickets come with an additional 10 kilograms baggage allowance at no charge.
The total baggage allowance is
- 30 kilograms for Economy Class
- 50 kilograms for Business Class
Canceling Your Student Flight Booking with Thai Airways
Have your travel plans changed, and you will no longer be flying? You can cancel or request a refund, but there is a penalty fee to pay.
If you were originally supposed to travel to Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, the penalty fee is 3,000 THB (Thai Baht). If you were supposed to fly to the other locations, the penalty fee is 1,000 THB.
