Hilton offers special discounted room rates for qualified travel advisors, but these rates are not available to the general public and are governed by strict eligibility, verification, and usage rules. Availability can vary widely by property and date, and misuse can result in rates being denied or reservations canceled.
This guide explains who qualifies for Hilton travel agent rates, how booking and verification typically work, what restrictions apply, and what alternatives exist if you’re not eligible.
Who Qualifies for Hilton Travel Agent Rates?
Hilton travel agent rates are reserved for credentialed travel professionals booking personal or familiarization (FAM) travel.
These rates are often called travel agent “familiarization rates” or “fam rates.” They are intended to incentivize travel agents to book their clients at Hilton hotels after ” familiarizing” themselves with a specific Hilton property (at a discounted rate).
To qualify, advisors generally must:
- Be an active travel agent affiliated with a recognized agency
- Hold a valid IATA, ARC, CLIA, or TRUE number
- Be booking for personal use, not for resale or client travel
Independent advisors must still be affiliated with a host agency that meets Hilton’s eligibility requirements.
If you cannot verify your status as a travel advisor, you will not be eligible for these rates.
Quick note: These rates should not be confused with the special rates travel agents can get for their clients at Hilton properties. That is called the Hilton Impresario Rate. This article focuses on the rates Travel Agents can get for themselves.
How to Book Hilton Travel Agent Rates
The process for booking a travel advisor rate with Hilton couldn’t be easier. You will have to go to the Hilton Travel Advisor Booking Page. Then just enter the destination and dates of your trip and click the “Find a Hotel” button.

You will now see a list of participating Hilton properties in the requested area with Hilton Travel Agent Rates available. As you can see in the screenshot below, if you are booking in the near future, your desired hotel may be sold out. If this is the case, click on the “select dates” button, which will take you to a calendar view of availability.

Hotels may require proof of eligibility, such as:
- A valid travel agent ID
- Agency documentation
- Matching credentials at check-in
Failure to verify eligibility can result in the rate being removed.
Rate Availability and Restrictions
Hilton travel agent rates are capacity-controlled and not guaranteed.
Key limitations to understand:
- Limited room inventory per night
- Blackout dates during peak travel periods
- Restrictions at resort and luxury properties
- Some brands or individual hotels may not participate
Even qualified advisors should view these rates as opportunistic, not dependable for every stay.
Personal Travel vs. Familiarization (FAM) Use
Hilton travel agent rates are generally intended for:
- Personal stays by the advisor
- Familiarization travel to better understand Hilton brands and properties
They are not intended for:
- Client bookings
- Group travel
- Resale or third-party use
Misuse—such as booking for non-advisors or attempting to extend rates to clients—can result in loss of eligibility.
Who can use the Travel Agent Rates?
Hilton actively enforces travel agent rate policies.
If eligibility cannot be confirmed, hotels may:
- Reprice the reservation at the best available public rate
- Cancel the booking prior to arrival
- Decline to honor the travel agent rate at check-in
Repeated misuse can result in:
- Loss of access to travel agent rates
- Revocation of booking privileges
- Notification to the advisor’s host agency
For this reason, Hilton travel agent rates should be used carefully and strictly within program rules.
How much can you save with Hilton Travel Advisor Rates?
The discounts aren’t that great for Travel Agents unless you book a room at one of Hilton’s newly opened hotels, where the discount is 50%.
They are better than the publicly available rates but aren’t as good as other Hilton discounts, such as the rate you can get with a Hilton Corporate Code.
Terms & Conditions of Hilton Travel Agent Rates
Hilton travel agent rates are highly discounted rates exclusively for certified travel agents therefore, the following conditions apply:

Final Thoughts
Hilton travel agent rates are a legitimate professional benefit—but they are not public discounts. Understanding eligibility, verification, and restrictions will help you avoid booking issues and use the program correctly.
When used as intended, these rates can support professional development and personal travel. When misused, they can quickly be revoked.
