How much are Delta SkyMiles worth?
Delta SkyMiles are generally worth around 1.1 cents per mile when booking award flights. This may vary a little from flight to flight, but 1.1 cents is a good value to assume.
Increased Value with a Delta Co-Branded Credit Card
Delta wants its members to own and use their co-branded credit cards, and they actually give cardholders a bonus of 15% when redeeming miles for flights.
If you are a Delta Co-Branded credit card holder, the value of your SkyMiles increases from 1.1 cents to 1.27 cents. All you have to do is enter your card details in your SkyMiles profile and the discounts will automatically show up when you perform an award search.

Delta SkyMiles are calculated based on the price you paid for your ticket ($5 miles per dollar). There are bonus earning opportunities if you have medallion status with Delta and if you pay with a Delta Co-Branded Credit Card. You will not earn any miles when booking award tickets.
Note: There are two exceptions for calculating miles earned from flights. These are fairly uncommon:
- If you purchased an exception fare, which is an unpublished fare booked through travel agents, vacation packages or other third parties, refer to Delta’s exception fare policy to determine how miles are calculated.
- If you fly on a partner airline and elect to earn SkyMiles for your flight, refer to Delta’s earning miles with partner policy to determine how miles are calculated.
