Choice corporate rates can be worth checking, but they’re not as universal as many travelers expect. They’re negotiated program rates that may only appear at certain properties—and some stays may require proof of eligibility.

In this article, I’ll show you how to apply a Choice corporate code, what to expect from eligibility and verification, and the best alternatives when a corporate rate isn’t available or doesn’t apply.

What are Hotel Corporate Codes?

In case you aren’t familiar with them, Corporate Codes are special rate codes used to identify the negotiated rate an organization has with a hotel chain (in this case, Choice Hotel Group) and are entered in the “Corporate Code” field on the booking page to calculate the reduced rate.

These rates apply to corporations, members of certain organizations, universities, and government officials. They can be either local discounts with a specific hotel or national discounts that apply across the entire chain of properties.

Choice Hotels corporate codes are identifiers tied to negotiated rate agreements between Choice Hotels and specific organizations. When entered during booking, the code signals to Choice’s reservation system to apply the agreed-upon discounted rate, subject to availability and eligibility.

Choice corporate codes are commonly associated with:

  • Corporate business travel
  • University or academic travel programs
  • Organization-specific negotiated discounts

Because Choice Hotels operates a large number of midscale and economy properties, corporate codes are often used for regional travel, extended stays, and cost-controlled business trips.

Who Qualifies for Choice Corporate Rates

To use a Choice corporate code legitimately, you must have a genuine affiliation with the organization that holds the negotiated rate. This typically includes:

  • Employees traveling on company business
  • Contractors or consultants on behalf of the organization
  • University staff, faculty, or students where the code is negotiated for campus travel

At check-in, properties may request proof of affiliation such as a business or university ID, a business email address, or supporting travel documentation.

If eligibility cannot be reasonably established, the hotel may:

  • Reprice the reservation at a standard or public rate
  • Require payment at the standard Best Available Rate
  • Remove any negotiated benefits tied to the corporate pricing

How Choice Enforces Corporate Rates

Choice Hotels properties may verify corporate rate eligibility at various stages, including at check-in or through pre-arrival audits. Policies vary by individual property and travel demand conditions, but because corporate codes represent contractual negotiated pricing, hotels reserve the right to confirm appropriate use.

Verification may include:

  • Requesting employer or university ID
  • Cross-referencing the booking details with the organization name
  • Asking about the purpose of travel

Failure to demonstrate eligibility may result in rate adjustments or removal of discounted pricing. Choice’s enforcement is not uniform across all locations — some properties may verify more frequently than others depending on occupancy, market conditions, and property policy.

Choice Hotels Corporate Rates

Below is a list of known Choice Hotels corporate and university codes. These codes may provide discounted rates for eligible travelers, but availability and discounts vary by property, date, and specific negotiated agreement. Always verify terms with your organization’s travel department or with Choice before booking.

University of Central Florida00087783
University of Miami00715180
University of Michigan00715180
University of Wisconsin Madison00904970

Discounted rates with these codes are very hard to find. Like Wyndham, Choice doesn’t get the same level of business travel as Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, or Marriott, they don’t have as many properties that offer corporate rates. (The Century 21 rate seems to be the most widely available corporate code).

Choice University Discounts

Some universities and higher-education organizations have negotiated hotel discounts that may include Choice properties. These are typically restricted rates, meaning eligibility is defined by the school or program (for example: faculty/staff, students, alumni association members, visiting speakers, or attendees of official campus events).

The most reliable way to find a legitimate university rate is through official channels, such as:

  • Your university’s travel portal or employee/student travel benefits page
  • A booking link or rate instructions provided by an event organizer (tour, orientation, conference, reunion)
  • A travel management program used by the school (if applicable)

If you receive a university booking link or code, review the rate rules before you book and be prepared to show proof of eligibility if requested at check-in.

How to Book with a Choice Hotel Corporate Code

To book a corporate rate with Choice Hotels:

  1. Visit Choice Hotels Booking Page or use the Choice Hotels mobile app
  2. Enter your destination and travel dates
  3. Open the “Special Rates” or “Corporate/Promo Code” field
  4. Enter the corporate code provided by your organization
  5. Search for available hotels and rates
How to book a Choice Hotels Corporate Rate

If a corporate rate does not appear:

  • The code may not apply to that property
  • The negotiated rate may not be available for your dates
  • The contract may restrict availability during peak demand

Identification Requirements when Using a Corporate Code

Eligibility checks can vary by property and rate type. Some hotels may request proof of eligibility at check-in or pre-arrival (for example: a company or university ID, a business email address, or documentation that supports the purpose of travel under the applicable agreement).

If you cannot verify eligibility, the hotel may reprice the reservation to a public rate or ask you to rebook.
