In addition to offering deeply discounted corporate rates to some of its largest customers for business travel, Marriott has a similar program for many companies when their employees are traveling for leisure. It’s called the Marriott Breakaway Program.
The main difference between the two rates is that the Breakaway rate discounts are less than the corporate codes and they are only available for weekend travel. However, the discount can be up to 30% so you should definitely check them out!
Marriott Breakaway Program Details:
Here is a high-level summary of the program.
- Save up to 30% off standard rates
- Rates are good for travel between Thursdays and Sundays. (Although some resorts offer discounts midweek without weekend stay restrictions)
- Friday or Saturday night stay is required
- Choose from participating hotels across Marriott’s portfolio of 30 brands and 7,200+ hotels around the world
- Stays are eligible to earn Marriott Bonvoy points and receive Elite status benefits.
Marriott Breakaway Rate Code
The code for using the Breakaway rate is “XML” and it’s actually the same for all companies that participate.
How to Book with a Marriott Breakaway Rate
It’s very easy to book these rates. Just go to marriott.com and enter the rate code “XML” in the Special Rates field.
Hit the “find hotels” button and a list of nearby hotels and rates will be in the search results. Participating hotels will typically have discounts in the 10-20% range, but you can sometimes find a 30% off deal.
Companies Participating in the Marriott Breakway Rate Program
Not every company that has a corporate rate with Marriott is eligible for the Breakaway program, so check to make sure you are eligible.
