Fairmont Corporate Codes vs Accor Preferred Rates

A corporate code isn’t always the best way to book a Fairmont. It can get you a lower room rate, but what else you get depends on the deal your company signed.

Fairmont is part of Accor. That means you have two main ways to get a better rate than the public rate at a Fairmont. One is a corporate code, if your company has one. The other is Accor Preferred, which anyone can book through an approved travel advisor. With Accor Preferred, you get daily breakfast for two, a hotel credit, and a chance at an upgrade, and you still earn ALL points.

For most leisure stays, I think Accor Preferred is the better deal. I’ll walk through how Fairmont corporate codes work, what Accor Preferred includes, and when each one makes sense.

What Are Fairmont Corporate Codes?

A Fairmont corporate code gives you a negotiated rate. It’s built for business travel.

Accor says companies get corporate rates in one of two ways. They negotiate directly with hotels, or they join an Accor business program. Once the rate is set, the company gets a code to use when booking.

What comes with a corporate rate depends on the contract. Accor says corporate rates often include extras like breakfast, Wi-Fi or room upgrades, and can include flexible cancellation and early check-in or late checkout. But you don’t get to pick those terms. Your company already did.

Corporate bookings do earn ALL points. Accor says negotiated corporate contracts earn points through all booking channels, except online travel sites.

How Fairmont Corporate Codes Work

Accor says that once your company has a corporate rate, you book it through a dedicated booking platform or use the code your company gets when you book.

A few things to know:

• Some deals only cover certain hotels. Since companies can negotiate directly with individual hotels, a code that works at one Fairmont may not work at another.
• The perks are set by the contract. Check your company’s travel policy or booking tool to see what your rate includes.
• Only use a code you qualify for. Corporate rates are for people who work for, or travel on behalf of, the company that negotiated them.

Are There Public Fairmont Corporate Codes?

No. Accor gives corporate codes to companies that sign an agreement. They aren’t meant for the public.

You’ll find “Fairmont promo codes” on coupon sites. Be careful with those. The codes that work are the ones Accor issues to your company, and the place to get one is your company’s travel manager or booking tool.

If your company has an Accor agreement, ask whether it covers Fairmont.

What Is Accor Preferred?

Accor Preferred (now called Accor Preferred by HERA, formerly STEP) is Accor’s program for luxury travel advisors. You can only book it through an approved travel advisor. You can’t book it on fairmont.com or the ALL app.

You book the Accor Preferred rate, which is generally the same as the hotel’s best flexible rate. These benefits are added:

• Daily breakfast for two, per room
• A hotel credit of $50 to $100 per stay (the amount varies by property)
• A room upgrade at check-in, subject to availability
• Early check-in and late checkout, subject to availability
• A VIP welcome and amenity

The program covers more than Fairmont. Participating brands include Raffles, Sofitel, Orient Express, Banyan Tree, Faena, SLS and SO/, among others. I go into the full program in my Accor Preferred guide.

A few rules to know:

• It doesn’t stack with other promotions. Prepaid rates, AAA rates and other promotional rates don’t qualify.
• Some hotels require a two-night minimum to get the benefits. Check when you book.

The big difference is the last two lines. You can only use a corporate rate if your company has one, and you get whatever terms it negotiated. Anyone can book Accor Preferred, and the benefits are the same set every time.

A Quick Example

Here’s how the math can work out. These are made-up numbers, not real rates for any hotel. Plug in your own.

Say a Fairmont resort’s flexible rate is $700 a night, and your corporate code takes 15% off, room only. You’re staying four nights with your spouse.

• Corporate rate savings: $105 a night x 4 nights = $420
• Accor Preferred breakfast: if breakfast for two runs $90 a day, that’s $90 x 4 = $360
• Accor Preferred credit: $100

In this example, Accor Preferred comes out $40 ahead before you count any upgrade.

Change the numbers and the answer changes. A bigger corporate discount or a shorter stay favors the corporate rate. If your corporate rate already includes breakfast, it probably wins. When a Corporate Rate Makes Sense

A Fairmont corporate code is usually the right call when:

• You’re on a short business trip
• Your company’s rate already includes breakfast or other perks
• The corporate discount is large for your dates

For a quick work trip to a city hotel like Fairmont San Francisco or Fairmont Pittsburgh, the corporate rate is often the simple choice.

When Accor Preferred Is the Better Choice

Accor Preferred usually makes more sense when:

• You’re traveling for leisure
• You’re staying several nights
• You’ll eat breakfast at the hotel
• It’s a special occasion and an upgrade matters to you
• You don’t have a corporate rate

Resorts like Fairmont Kea Lani, Fairmont Orchid and Fairmont Mayakoba are good examples. At places like these, daily breakfast, a hotel credit and a shot at a better room add up over a longer stay.

How to Book Accor Preferred at Fairmont

You have to book through an approved Accor Preferred advisor. You can’t get these benefits by booking on fairmont.com, the ALL app, or an online travel agency.

You can book Accor Preferred rates online through Classic Travel. Add your ALL number to the booking to earn points on your stay.

Final Thoughts

A lower room rate isn’t always the better deal at a Fairmont. A corporate code is worth whatever your company negotiated, and you only get one if your company has an agreement.

If you’re on a business trip and your company gives you a code, use it. For leisure stays, Accor Preferred is usually the better value. You get daily breakfast for two, a hotel credit and a shot at a better room, and you still earn your ALL points. And anyone can book it.
