Looking to save on your next Alamo Car Rental? It’s easy to do, you just have to find the best Alamo Car Rental Discount Codes and Coupons then apply them to your next rental.
All major car rental companies offer deals, promotions, and discounts. But they all do it a little differently, with different codes, and they often don’t make the best discounts publicly available.
Don’t worry, we did a little research to help you out. Here’s your guide to saving some money on your next Alamo Car Rental.
Alamo Promo Code vs. Discount Code vs. Coupon Code?
Alamo, National, and Enterprise are all part of Enterprise Holdings, but Alamo doesn’t offer as many discount codes and corporate codes as either National or Enterprise. They try to keep their rates lower without codes, so you won’t find as many discounts and offers when booking with Alamo.
However, they do offer some Coupon and Discount Codes and we’ll provide the most up-to-date offers in this guide.
- Alamo Coupon Codes are used to identify a special rate for the exclusive use of employees or members of specific entities with which Alamo has a contractual relationship. Coupon Codes are also used for car class upgrades and last-minute specials.
- Discount Codes are not as prevalent with Alamo but they do use them for things such as Military discounts.

How to Apply an Alamo Discount Code
When making your reservation you’ll see that Alamo has a separate field for the “Coupon Code” and “Discount Code”. This is where you enter your promo code or discount code. Just enter or paste the code in the box and the discount will automatically be applied to your reservation when you book.
Alamo Email Specials
When you sign up for Alamo emails, they will occasionally send you special offers and discounts. You can sign up for Alamo email specials here.
Alamo Car Rental Corporate Codes
Corporate codes are heavily discounted rates negotiated between a company and Alamo. These are a great way to save on car rentals, but you need to be very careful when using them.
Specifically, you need to make sure you’re eligible to use a corporate code before applying it to your next car rental. There are a lot of risks associated with using a code that you don’t qualify for. To begin with, you’ll most likely be asked for identification to prove you’re associated with the company whose code you’re using. If you can’t prove you are associated with that organization, there’s a good chance your rental will be denied.
Even more important, if you get into a car accident, you could have a big issue with your insurance claim if the rental is tied to a corporate account and their business insurance. Often times the claim will go back to the company with the negotiated rate, not to you. This could mean huge delays in getting reimbursement and possibly a claim denial.
If you work for a major corporation, especially one that has a lot of travelers (IBM, Deloitte, E&Y, Accenture, etc..), make sure you contact your Human Resource or Corporate Travel Department as the savings can be huge when using these codes. Please just make sure you are associated with the company and qualified to use them!
As a discount leisure brand, don’t expect to find a bunch of corporate codes with Alamo like you would if renting from Avis, Hertz, or National.
What’s the difference between Alamo, National, and Enterprise?
Alamo is a discount car rental agency that primarily serves the leisure travel market. Enterprise serves both leisure and business travelers and has many neighborhood locations, in addition to their airport locations. National Car Rental is primarily focused on airport locations, offers the highest quality cars of the three, and caters to both leisure and business travelers.
At airport locations, Alamo and National usually share a rental car bus and lot for picking up your car. Enterprise typically has a separate lot for their rental car pickups.

Skip the Counter
Alamo offers an online check-in process, which lets you skip the counter and go straight to your car. This is in addition to their normal counter service check-in and accelerated check-in. There are three ways to check in with Alamo:
- Counter Service Check-in is the traditional way of getting your rental car by waiting in line for an agent and going through the check-in process with that person.
- Accelerated Check-in is activated when the renter’s driver’s license and contact information is provided ahead of pick-up. You still have to go to the counter, but the process is faster because they have some of your information in advance.
- Skip the Counter can happen by using the app and activating Alamo Accelerated Check-in, submitting your payment, and accepting the rental agreement online. Once you have done this, you can Skip the Counter and go directly to your vehicle. The gate agent will confirm your details as you exit the lot.
Here are some features of Alamo’s skip-the-counter process
- No need to go to the counter or kiosk
- Select a vehicle that matches the car class you rented
- Keys are in the vehicle, drive to the exit gate
- Be ready to show the gate agent your Skip the Counter ticket, driver’s license, and credit card
This optional service is offered free of charge at select locations. Check if your location offers to Skip the Counter, not all locations are set up for this service.
