Le M de Megève Review: Megève, France

My wife and I spent three nights at Le M de Megève in mid-December with our two kids for a family ski vacation before Christmas. I’d always wanted to ski the French Alps, and Le M de Megève kept coming up as one of the best resorts in the region.

We chose Le M de Megève because of its excellent reputation and prime location in the town center—you can literally walk to the ski lifts, which made getting on the slopes incredibly easy. We booked two rooms for the four of us.

Here is my review of our three-night stay.

Location

In the heart of the village of Megève, only 100 feet from the Chamois gondola, M de Megève is the perfect place for those who want to both ski and be within walking distance of all the great restaurants and shopping Megève has to offer.

Megève is a village and ski resort in the Haute-Savoie region of the French Alps. It’s the main part of the Evasion Mont Blanc ski area (the 4th largest in France). There are three main ski areas: Megève; Mont D’arbois, Rochebrune, and Le Jaillet, which offer 325 km of ski runs that are served by 88 lifts. With the ski slopes relatively low, much of the skiing at Megève is on beautiful, tree-lined runs with spectacular views of Mont Blanc.

Lobby

The lobby is warm and inviting with a bar on one side and a cozy fireplace area on the other. Upon arrival, we were offered a drink and sat down with the concierge to check into our room and map out our activities for the week.

Rooms at M de Megève

There are 42 rooms and suites that each have a balcony overlooking the village or the majestic interior courtyard. The decor is a traditional chalet feel, with wood-trimmed walls, pine furniture, and wool fabrics covering everything from the bed to the drapery.

Room categories include single king bedrooms, traditional suites, and a family suite that can sleep up to 6. We had 2 double premier rooms overlooking the courtyard.

The bathrooms are small but comfortably arranged with a tub, large rain shower, sink, and a heated towel bar. The toilet is in its own separate room, next to the shower, which at first seemed odd, but actually makes sense since most people are not staying alone here.

The closets are very spacious and provided plenty of room to hide our ski gear after a long day on the slopes.

Restaurant and Bars at M de Megève

There are two restaurants and a bar at the hotel.

• Le M Restaurant – The main restaurant for the hotel serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
• Le Bar Du M – The lobby bar, which also serves a light bar food menu.
• Les Grands Crus De Fondues – The fondue restaurant is open only in the winter.

Amenities

The hotel offers a complete spa setup including Sauna, Massage, Hot Tub, Turkish / Steam Bath, and an Indoor Swimming/Lap Pool.

Overall Rating: Would I Recommend this hotel or stay here again?

I would absolutely stay here again. Everything about our stay was fantastic from the location of the hotel to the shopping, restaurants, and great skiing in Megève. The level of service we received during our stay was the best I have ever experienced!

Every hotel staff member we interacted with was so friendly and willing to help with whatever we needed. In particular, the concierge went above and beyond to take care of lift tickets, dinner, car rental, ski rental and so much more.
