The car rental experience for both business and leisure travelers can be very painful, especially in the COVID world we live in. After arriving from a long flight, the last thing you want to deal with is a long line at the rental counter, a missing reservation, or a lengthy exit from the rental car lot. Thankfully, Avis has fixed this frustration with their new QuickPass feature in the mobile app!
With the Avis mobile application, customers have the ability to control most elements of the rental experience via their mobile device without the need to ever visit the rental counter. The Avis mobile app allows customers to do everything from booking and updating reservations, tracking Avis shuttle buses, upgrading to a higher car class, and locating nearby gas stations and parking facilities.
Now you can add a completely contactless experience to the list of features!
What is Avis QuickPass?
With Avis QuickPass, there are no lines to wait in, no counter agent to meet with, no papers to sign and no checkout process to deal with. The Avis QuickPass process is completely contactless!
QuickPass is a new technology that Avis has just launched, so it's important to note that it is NOT yet available at all Avis locations. Before you leave for your trip, check to make sure it will be available at your airport destination here.
Additional locations will be launching throughout the year.
How Does QuickPass Work?
Assuming you have booked your reservation successfully, getting your car is fast and easy.
Here's how it works:
- You'll receive a push notification on your phone (via the Avis App) as soon as you land.
- From the app, select and confirm the car of your choice. You can also upgrade to a nicer car if you want. The app will now give you an assigned parking space to pick up your car.
- Go to your assigned space, get in your car and tap the express exit QR code on the app.
- Drive to the exit and scan your express exit QR code at the exit gate. That's it – you are now off and running!
Bullet #4 is what has me most excited. With the exception of Enterprise, most major rental car companies (National, Hertz, Budget, etc..) offer the ability to skip the rental counter and go straight to your car, but you still have to wait in a line (sometimes a very long line) to check out and exit the rental car lot. Having the ability to go completely contactless and exit with just a QR code is very unique and something I am very excited about!
Make sure you download Avis the app and try QuickPass on your next trip!
