My wife and I spent three nights at the HUUS Hotel in Gstaad in April with our two kids during a trip through Switzerland. We knew we wanted to visit Gstaad but didn’t have a specific hotel in mind when we started planning.
After researching options, we came across the HUUS and it immediately stood out for its modern, relaxed vibe—a refreshing alternative to the traditional luxury hotels Gstaad is known for. It turned out to be the highlight of our entire Switzerland trip, which also included stops in Zurich and Geneva.
Here is my review of our three-night stay.
HUUS Hotel Location, Gstaad
Gstaad is famous for its luxury hotels, high-end shopping, and international jet setters, as well as being one of the largest ski areas in Switzerland. The Promenade is the main pedestrian street in town and is filled with iconic brands including Louis Vuitton, Moncler, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Hermes, and many more, all of which are housed in Swiss chalet-style storefronts.

The HUUS hotel is conveniently located in a small and very picturesque valley in the heart of the Bernese Alps, just about a 10-minute drive from the heart of the Gstaad Promenade, with beautiful views of the Gstaad countryside.

Hotel HUUS Lobby & “Living Room”
At the center of the hotel’s main floor is The Living Room, which is an open blend of the reception area, bar, library, and lounge. The ceilings are vaulted and there is a wall of full-length windows framing the mountain views and the Gstaad mountains.
It’s the heart of the hotel with a very lively Après-ski scene as well.

Hotel HUUS Rooms
Due to its mountainside location, all the 136 rooms and suites are located on the floors below the main entrance, so the entrance, lobby, and living room are actually on the top floor.
The bedrooms are very cozy with dark-toned, paneled walls, a bed with a blue and white checked mattress, a tree-trunk-base round table, and an L-shaped banquette seating area with cushions. The warm colors give the room a rustic, yet modern, mountain feel.

Restaurants and Bars at the HUUS Hotel
There are two restaurants and a bar.
The HUUS Gstaad Restaurant is on the 4th floor and is the main location to get breakfast each morning. It’s also open for lunch and dinner.
La Vue Restaurant is the finer dining experience on the main floor, just off the living room
The bar is front and center in the Living Room and offers a wide variety of drinks and signature cocktails including a substantial Gin and Cocktail offering and a stock of over 450 spirits.

Activities and Amenities
There are plenty of activities and things to do here, both inside and outside of the hotel. In the hotel, there is a full game room with pool tables, video games, etc. as well as a kids club and babysitting services.

The spa is comprehensive with an aromatic sauna, ice fountain, herbal steam bath, an indoor swimming pool, spa lounge, Kid’s Spa, two treatment rooms for massages, and a state-of-the-art gym with high-tech equipment.

The HUUS Hotel also has a ski shop below the lobby that will outfit you will all of the ski and outdoor equipment you’ll need, including hiking boots, ski equipment, mountain bikes, Nordic walking poles, etc.
Once you get all of your gear, you will find easy access to great terrain for snowshoeing, hiking, cross-country skiing, groomed trail skiing, and guided powder skiing.
