Avis discounts can be excellent, but the big mistake is assuming every AWD code is “public” and risk-free. Some AWDs are true public offers, while others are tied to employers, memberships, or partner eligibility.
This guide shows you (1) what an AWD code is, (2) where to enter it, (3) how to stack it with coupons, and (4) how to choose the best code by running a quick price-check.

An Avis AWD code (“Avis Worldwide Discount”) is a rate identifier that can change your rental price and sometimes adds partner benefits. To use one:
- Enter the AWD during the first step of booking (or save it in your Avis profile).
- Add a coupon code separately (if you have one) to test stacking.
- If the AWD is tied to a company or membership, be prepared to prove eligibility—otherwise Avis can remove the discount and reprice the rental.

How to choose the best Avis AWD code (the 60-second method)
Don’t assume the “highest % off” code wins. The only reliable method is a quick comparison.
- Price your rental with no codes (baseline).
- Apply one AWD at a time and compare the total (not just the daily rate).
- Add a coupon code (if applicable) and see whether it improves the total or adds a real benefit (upgrade, free day, money off).
- If two options are within a few dollars, choose the one with the cleanest eligibility and the most flexible cancellation.

Avis AWD Codes and Coupon Codes
Some Avis AWD codes are corporate-negotiated rates. These can be excellent, but they’re also the most likely to trigger eligibility checks.
If you can’t substantiate eligibility (company ID, membership credentials, partner verification, etc.), Avis can remove the discount and reprice your rental—and in some cases refuse to honor the rate.
If you’re not sure you qualify, use a public offer or a membership discount you can prove rather than chasing the biggest corporate AWD.

Avis AWD codes are different from Avis coupon codes. You can stack AWD numbers with coupon codes but cannot add multiple AWD numbers or multiple coupon codes. As you will see in the table below, the coupon codes are just ok, the AWD codes are where you save money. I would find the best AWD code and then, apply one of these coupon codes on top of it to see if you get an even better discount. It may not provide any further discount but doesn’t hurt to try.

Avis Corporate Codes
Corporate codes are heavily discounted rates negotiated between a company and Avis. These are a great way to save on car rentals, but you need to be very careful when using them.
Specifically, you need to make sure you’re eligible to use a corporate code before applying it to your next car rental. There are a lot of risks associated with using a code that you don’t qualify for. To begin with, you’ll most likely be asked for identification to prove you’re associated with the company whose code you’re using. If you can’t prove you are associated with that organization, there’s a good chance your rental will be denied.
Even more important, if you get into a car accident, you could have a big issue with your insurance claim if the rental is tied to a corporate account and their business insurance. Often times the claim will go back to the company with the negotiated rate, not to you. This could mean huge delays in getting reimbursement and possibly a claim denial.
I used to publish the most popular Avis corporate codes on this page but was asked to take them down since people using them that were not qualified and were getting denied at the rental counter, as well as having other problems.
Avis Corporate Code for milepro Readers
The good news is that Avis decided to partner with us and provide a special “milepro corporate code” that anyone can use.
Most Avis AWD codes require you to “prepay” to get the best discount. I don’t like prepaying for anything, so this code will let you either pay now or pay later. The discount is up to 25% off of “pay later” rates and up to 30% off “pay now” rates.
I think it’s better to take a slightly lower discount and not have to prepay for the car. That makes life much easier if you have to cancel for any reason. Check it out below.
If you work for a major corporation, especially one that has a lot of travelers (IBM, Deloitte, E&Y, Accenture, etc..), make sure you contact your Human Resources or Corporate Travel Department as the savings can be huge when using these codes. Please just make sure you are associated with the company and qualified to use them!

Avis Student and Alumni Discounts
Another way to get a discounted corporate code with Avis is to check and see if your College or University has either an alumni deals page or a student benefits page that offers car rental discounts. As an MSU Spartan alumni, I have access to discounts with Avis, Enterprise, Hertz, and National – the discounts can range from 10-30%.
In this case, the MSU Corporate code for Avis is D134118 and it provides a very good discount. Do a quick google search on your university and see what discounts you can come up with.
Before using one of these codes, double-check and make sure you are allowed to use these University Discount Codes on personal rentals. Some codes are published for business travel only, while others can be used for personal rentals. In some cases, the rental car company provides a separate code for personal use and business use.
How to Apply the Avis Discount Codes
It’s very easy to apply the Avis AWD and Coupon codes.
- Enter your pick-up and drop-off location and the date you want to rent.
- Click on the Discount Code tab which will reveal the boxes to enter both the AWD code as well as the Coupon code.
- Click the “Select My Car” button and your rental options with discounted rates will be displayed.
