Airline: All Nippon Airways
Aircraft: Boeing 787-9 (789)
Flight Number: NH 114
Route: Tokyo – Haneda (HND) to Houston (IAH)
Duration: 12 hours and 20 minutes
Seat: 10A
After flying to Tokyo from Detroit on a very underwhelming Delta Premium Select flight, I was very excited to return, via Houston, in ANA business class.
ANA Business Class Booking
I booked this flight using Virgin Atlantic miles, which was a steal at 47,500 miles (plus $317 in taxes and fees) for a one-way flight. The cash fare for this flight varies anywhere from $4,500 to $8,000 for a one way ticket, so this was a fantastic use of Virgin Atlantic points!
Check-in and Boarding
The boarding process was very fast an efficient, as this was a fairly empty flight in Business class. I think there only about 10 passengers in business class for this flight with just about every seat in my section of the plane sitting empty.
Seats
The Business Class cabin of ANA’s 777-300ER features spacious, lie-flat seats with direct aisle access for all passengers. Seats are designed for maximum privacy and comfort, with ample legroom and adjustable settings to find the perfect position for relaxation or work. The staggered 1-2-1 configuration ensures that every passenger has a window or aisle seat.
ANA business class seats on their 787-9s are staggered in a 1-2-1 configuration, with a total of 40 business class seats spread across 11 rows.
If you are flying with a partner, the middle seats next to each other are a nice option, but if you are flying solo you will want to get a window seat with the seat right next to the window. If you look at seats 3A, 5A, 7A, 8A, 10A, and 12A you will notice that they all have the seat next to the window with a table separating the seat from the aisle. The are the best window seats in ANA business class because they give you both a great view out the window and a buffer from the aisle for additional privacy.

Food
ANA is renowned for its exceptional Japanese and international cuisine in Business Class. Passengers can enjoy a diverse menu that includes a selection of gourmet dishes prepared with high-quality ingredients.
ANA also accommodates dietary restrictions and offers an extensive range of beverages, including fine wines, spirits, and non-alcoholic options. Passengers can even pre-order their meals online to ensure their preferred choice is available.
By this point in my trip I had had enough Japanese food, so I was glad there was an international option for me to choose!
Entertainment
ANA provides a state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment system. Business Class passengers have access to large, high-resolution screens with a wide selection of movies, TV shows, music, and games. The extensive content library caters to various tastes, ensuring passengers stay entertained throughout the flight.
Amenity Kit
ANA Business Class passengers also receive a complimentary amenity kit. The kit includes skincare products, toothbrush and toothpaste, earplugs, an eye mask, socks, and other travel essentials.
The only item I ended up using was the slippers.
ANA Business Class Review: Is it worth it?
In summary, ANA’s 787-9 Business Class offers a luxurious and comfortable flying experience. From spacious seating and gourmet dining to top-notch entertainment, attentive service, and a well-appointed amenity kit, ANA ensures that passengers enjoy a truly premium journey in the skies.
I don’t know if I would have spent $4,000 – $8,000 on the flight, but it was sure a great use of 47,500 Virgin Atlantic points. If you can find award availability I would definitely recommend flying ANA and experiencing their amazing product!
