Airline: Emirates
Aircraft: Boeing 777-300ER
Flight Number: EK212
Route: Miami, FL (MIA) to Dubia, U.A.E. (DXB)
Duration: 14 hours and 15 minutes
Seat: 06A
A recent business trip to Hyderabad, India, provided an excellent opportunity to try out the newly updated Emirates 777 Business Class. My flight was booked as a premium economy ticket, and I hoped to use my Emirates miles to upgrade to business class at the gate on at least one of the legs.
Emirates allows passengers to upgrade one cabin class at the time of departure with miles, if the seats are available. This round-trip flight had four legs, and I was lucky enough to secure an upgrade on all four of them. This could not have worked out better!
The number of miles for an upgrade varies, depending on flight duration and the cabin class you are upgrading to. In my case, the Miami to Dubai route required 56,160 miles to upgrade each way, and the Dubai to Hyderabad route required 24,960 miles.

This review will focus on the Miami-to-Dubai route of my trip. This is a nighttime route, so the pictures aren’t as crisp as I would like them to be. They definitely don’t do the experience justice, but they will still give you a feel for the product.
Business Class Cabin Seats
I had seat 6A for this flight, which is a window seat. The new 777 configuration is 1-2-1, so every seat has direct Aisle access, which is a much better configuration than the older 777 Business Class Seat Configuration.
When booking an Aisle seat, make sure to get either an “A” seat or “K” seat as they have the seat right next to the window which provides the best viewing out the window and privacy from people walking up and down the aisle.

The cabin has a more modern feel with a lighter color palette (cream, quilted leather, champagne trims), textured panels, mood/ambient lighting and beautiful wood trim.

The seats have large tray tables, side-storage compartments, USB/AC charging outlets, and a personal minibar, which is something you don’t see on most airlines!

The TV Screen is 23 inches, which is one of the largest in the industry and features Emirates award winning entertainment system. Also, included is a set of noise cancelling headphones.

Food and Drinks
The food on Emirates is always great, and this flight was no exception. The only thing that was a little disappointing was that they served breakfast first, followed by lunch, due to the flight’s departure time. I find a lunch or dinner route more enjoyable, but this was still amazing!

I had the Cheese Omelette for breakfast and the Chicken Biryani and Mezze appetizer for lunch.

Business Class Bathroom & Amenity Kit
After takeoff, the flight attendant passed out our Amenity kits. They have two versions of the kit: one for men and another for women. Mine included a shaving kit, toothbrush, and Bulgari lotion and fragrance.

The bathrooms in the Emirates Business Class Cabin are bright, spacious, and kept immaculately clean throughout the flight!

Final Thoughts
Emirates’ updated Business Class on the Boeing 777 delivers much of what you would expect from Emirates — impeccable service, sophisticated design, and a sense of exclusivity. The new 1-2-1 layout is a significant improvement, finally offering the direct aisle access and privacy with every seat.
The fully flat bed, expansive entertainment system, and thoughtful cabin aesthetics create an environment well-suited for both relaxation and productivity.
The only negative I could find is with the seats. Although they are significantly more stylish and sleek than the older 777 seats, I did not find them to be as comfortable as the others. That said, I would fly this product any day, and every day. It was amazing!
