The next time you are at O’Hare airport and have some time before your flight (which, at O’Hare, is most likely delayed), I highly recommend you head over to Terminal 1 or 3 and check out Tortas Frontera, the new Mexican Sandwich Shop and Bar by chef Rick Bayless.
In case you aren't familiar with Rick Bayless, he's the Chicago-based chef, specializing in Regional Mexican Cuisine behind several of my favorite Chicago restaurants including Frontera Grill, XOCO, and Topolobampo. Tortas Frontera is similar to XOCO, which specializes in quick-service Mexican Street Food.

The Tortas Frontera menu is primarily made up of different types of Tortas (griddle-baked Mexican sandwiches with a crunchy crust and a variety of fillings such as beer-braised beef short ribs, chipotle chicken, garlicky shrimp, and goat cheese) and Mollettes (warm, open-faced sandwiches). They also serve freshly made guacamole, hand-shaken Margaritas, and keeping with the local flavor… Goose Island Beer and Intelligentsia Coffee.
There are actually two Tortas Frontera locations at O’Hare:
United Terminal 1, Gate B11.
American Terminal 3, Gate K3.
I highly recommend you make time to try this restaurant, the next time you fly into, out of, or connect through the Chicago O’Hare Airport.
